TOOS is a novel Trinder's reagent that has higher water solubility compared to traditional phenol and aniline based chromogenic substrates. It can reduce the risk of precipitation or crystallization and has significant absorbance at a wavelength of 590nm, ensuring the accuracy of detection results. The color reaction is based on the Trinder reaction mechanism: in the presence of hydrogen peroxide (H ₂ O ₂), TOOS couples with 4-aminoantipyrine (4-AAP) and peroxidase (POD) to form a red quinone imine compound, and the color intensity is positively correlated with the concentration of the target substance. This characteristic makes it widely applicable in IVD detection.

TOOS is the core component of glucose detection kits.
